(i realize the irony of making a post to complain about how busy you are.)

i am currently taking resumes for various internships in my life, including:
-church intern
-listening to music & podcasts intern

-cleaning intern

no pay, but tremendous experience to be had.

kanye vs. bono

watching mtv's "all eyes on kanye west" while simultaneously reading a book on U2. kanye west. bono. both of these guys strike me as amazing musicians, but even more so for their candid honesty, introspection of all facets of life, and propensity for social justice. while much can be discussed about the "correctness" of their spirtual theology, its refreshing to see how much they are able to reflect God and the everyman's spirituality in contemporary society. fascinating, fascinating people. understanding each of them a bit more makes me look forward to kanye's new album and seeing U2 in december.

on the complete flip side, i watched an episode of mtv's super sweet 16 today. nothing else has made me want to punch little girls more than this.

MN madness

Back in Minneapolis for training. I do enjoy the downtown and enjoy the thrill of walking amongst herds of people on my way to work. I feel like i'm living in a metropolitan city like Chicago or a mini-New York but w/o the crippling paranoia of crowds. Going to a Twins/WSox baseball game tommorow or as a coworker cleverly quipped yesterday, "a $12 cover charge."

Working hard to get material ready for the podcast this week. Guest(s) perhaps? You'll have to tune in to find out. I promise this to be the most intellectually-stimulating show to date! But I guess that doesn't mean anything since I'm as dumb (or smart) as a rock.

Random note: Interestingly, Episode #002 (featuring the interview with David) is by far the most popular and downloaded episode (people are still downloading it!).

on a side note, Gilmore Girls is a great show.

Kwok Talk - Episode #005

Diddy, Selling yourself on eBay, Denison Witmer, laptop stampede, Freakanomics. It doesn't get more random than this.

And who figured out how to put music in?

Where's David?

Sorry people, but I deleted the previous posts that had links to download David's songs. Apparently I exceeded my monthly usage limit on libsyn.

Is it just me or is it a slow week news-wise? May have to spend more time digging up stuff for this week's podcast. All this blood and sweat for you the listener! Well not really, more like an outlet for all the websurfing and media consumption that I do regardless.

Kwok Talk - Episode #004

Louis & 2 other guests discuss missions in Indonesia, the Starbucking documentary, and summer video game drought. Well, actually no one wanted to talk about the summer video game drought, except me. Who reserved an Xbox 360? This excited guy here!

For the love of xanga...

...Maybe i'm old fashioned or something, but i don't quite get all these youngins setting their xanga sites to play music. Please, i don't need a random Switchfoot (or even worse some girl pop song) playing on my laptop at work all of a sudden if i happen to want to read your site. If i want music, i will keep playing my ipod. Who's going to be that old guy shaking his fist at kids while sitting on his porch? This guy right here in 50 years!

It's been a slow week at work, which gave me time to write material for this week's podcast. Here's a teaser.
-The summer video game drought
-An interview with the most Chinese white person i know
-2 cd reviews
-Starbucking?

Look for the podcast here late Saturday!

How I got wanted for car-jacking

I hate rental cars b/c I never can remember what they look like. Today after lunch, I wandered the parking lot for my car. I finally saw the ugly tan that is my car and got in. The seat was a little more uncomfortable than usual, and the car was a mess. I wondered how had been able to dirty up the car so much. Then I saw a bunch of hairclips on the dashboard, and then it hit me...

This wasn't my car! I think I dropped some verbal bomb of sorts and ran out of the car and saw my rental another row over. Quickly I made my getaway and hopefully no one noticed.

Moral of the story. Lock your car doors. Else you might fine me in your car next time.

I'm such a slacker

How's the saying go? Give a man an inch and he'll take a foot?
I've been such a slacker during these vacation days. At least I worked on this upcoming week's show. I wish I was the type that could just freely talk for the whole time, but alas most of the show is scripted for the time being to minimize the long pauses or stuttering that is nicely edited out.

I finished Metal Gear Solid again last night. I think its probably the best put together game I've ever played. Maybe I'll dress up like Solid Snake (complete with box) this Halloween.

Hooray for Friday tommorow.

Asian domination

Geez Louise, I managed to catch a repeat of ESPN's eating contest this weekend, and I had this mild guilty pleasure watching it. More so than just MTV's real world marathons, which you just realize is trash, this had some thrill of sports the absurdity of...well an eating contest.

But I got to see perhaps the greatest competitor of our time ever in action.
Kobayashi!
The guy is not human. I saw him destroy some dude in a round eating salads, where he wolfed down 2 pounds before the other guy was even a quarter done. He even stopped eating with over a minute left and the other guy didnt even come close. I also saw Sonya "the Black Widow" destroy some guy eating salad too. Just amazing to see these tiny Asians dominating huge Americans. That's right. We now have something else to dominate besides math competitions.

This week's festivities propel Kobayashi to my updated list of my top five men and women.

Men
1. Dwayne Wade (Miami Heat guard)
2. Kanye West (rapper)
3. Kobayashi (eater of everything)
4. Kevin Peralta (host of Attack of the Show)
5. David Eckstein (scrappy STL Cards short stop)

Women
1. Morgan Webb (host of X-Play)
2. Naomi Watts (actress)
3. Jenny Lewis (singer of Rilo Kiley)
4. Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls)
5. Reiko Aylesworth (24)
