the trifecta is complete!

so...i got a call today from my mom (who was picking up my mail while I'm in dallas) and she said that the water in my dishwasher apparently didn't drain and there was a puddle in the kitchen. so the technology breakdown trifecta is now complete (ipod, refrigerator, dishwasher)!

i dont really have time to buy a fridge this weekend, and actually dont feel like buying a fridge.

on a side note, im really excited about this week's episode. what do you get when you mix drugs, a plague, doctors, and british people? kwok talk - episode #11! check for it on saturday.

oh shoot its past my bedtime!
lhk

addendum #1: oh and i posted some new photos from my recent travels to the flickr site (link on the side of the blog)

addendum #2:

i got this picture sent to me after a group of us went to some blues bar downtown. good job to whoever took this shot. not to sound like a narcissist, but i like the natural smile i had in this picture. kwok males (dad, andy, and i) have the WORST fake smiles for camera pictures (if you do not believe, ask andy for his senior picture outtakes). i guess if you want me smiling in your picture, you better make sure i dont know youre taking a shot.

!!!

Out of curiousity, I looked at U2's website to see if they had posted the opening act for the STL show. Maybe Bono was visiting my blog b/c the opener is...

KANYE WEST!!!

I nearly fell over in my seat. This will be the freaking best concert ever!

(See Kanye West vs. Bono entry made last month)

everything's breaking!

This is not a grumbling post...this is not a grumbling post (did i not learn anything this week in sunday school)

Louis is trying to prevent going into a rage like Son Gohan.

Repair guy came out this morning to look at fridge, which has the cooling power of like 3 gerbils running on a wheel. The cooling tubes are totally shot, and would cost almost $500 to replace. Essentially that's about the price of getting a new fridge, which is now my next goal (i say as i now very inconveniently head to fly out of town)

In perhaps worse news, my ipod has been breaking down and today gave the big kaput by not working anymore. (extra annoyance, I downloaded the new Wolf Parade & David Crowder albums today and can't even listen to them now!) Plan on making a stop by the Apple store on the way to work. Thankfully, i purchased it in early Oct last year, so it should be under warranty. They dont make my model anymore, so maybe they'll just give me 4 of those hot new nanos.

This day isn't boding well technology-wise for me. Someone said the trifecta of stuff breaking would be accomplished by something happening to the mini-van today. If you see a young asian male on the side of the road punching his van (or rocking back and forth in the fetal position) today, you know what happened.

on a side note, to further explain my choice of picture, Son Gohan is probably my fav character from the Dragonball Z series. while being one of the strongest characters in the series, he only lives up to his potential when pushed to the limit, as he is a normally passive and tentative boy. i feel akin to that type of personality. except my hair doesnt turn blond when i get super angry.

stupid sin making things break down in the world.

holding it together.
lhk.

addendum #1: so i went to the apple store and they gave me a new one as a replacement. i didnt get a sexy ipod, but rather the good & simple same model i had before. sadly, they couldnt help me with a free fridge replacement. oh well.

interestingly, this bible verse sprung to mind. "even though the fig trees have no blossom, and there are no grapes on the vine,; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!" - Habukkuk 3:17-18. in your face, sinful Louis!

of wrenches and pants

i took off during lunch and ran to home depot to get a wrench and some tubing to fix the guest bathroom toilet (after some girl clogged it up Saturday night). (on a tangential side note, and not to get too gross, but i still get weirded out thinking that girls do the #2. in college i devised a theory that they just had cartridges that they changed when full. no mess, no fuss. this theory allowed me to sleep at nights in college). anyways... i also picked up some wallpaper glue. this should make for a very manly domestic evening tonight before i head off to dallas tommorow night.

next part of the story, upon leaving home depot, there's a hot dog stand that operates there. figured i'd give it a try. i got a bratwurst, tamale, and a bag of chips for $5. pretty good! and the food was pretty good too! then upon eating back at my cube, i spilled relish on my pants.

smelling like pickles,

ps. keane was AMAZING (again)

Meet the in-law?

Happy birthday Lillian. I had a fun (tiring) time helping out with the party. (And yes, she did like the Hilary Duff & Switchfoot albums, but apparently I bought the wrong Black Eyed Peas album.) Anyways, I also hung around a lot with the potential addition to the Kwok family (or I guess we'd lose Lillian to the Sicking family) in a few years...woo woo! No objections by me.

On a side note, you'll notice the new Google ads at the top of the blog. I've signed up with Google Adsense, which supposedly will pay me for ad views or people clicking on them. YES! Kwok Talk is officially a commerical entity! Now I will just quit my job, hire a monkey to click on the links, and retire to sleep and play xbox all day.

preparing to live the bling lifestyle,

Gilmore-riffic!

For some odd reason of sheer cosmic coincidence, I seem to somehow always turn the channel to Gilmore Girls when I've been out of town lately. I didn't realize it had such a girly opening sequence. I have no clue what's going on in this show, but I enjoy the witty banter. I cant quite make it to the next step to buy dvds of a season and actually watch the show from the start. But with their girly colored boxes...apparently im not secure enough with my manhood.

Oh crap, the commericals are over. Back to watching.

"Louis" spells of 5/7ths of "Useless"

I think that after today, I will add the following to my criteria for my wife:

-Must be able to open plastic trash bags

If you hung around church during lunch today, you got to witness the pathetic spectacle of me trying to open a plastic garbage bag. No joke - it nearly took me over 10 minutes to get it open. There I stood powerless and pathetically trying to rub the plastic together just to get the bag open. I even considered paying a kid a dollar to open it for me...

Finally made it out to Stamford. Maybe I need to be more optimistic about this, but I'm not digging travelling at this point in time. I feel like I haven't been at home, and when I am home on the weekends, I'm barely there b/c my weekends seem to be just crazy busy this month. And sadly, not necessarily busy with fun stuff.

On a more optimistic note, Episode #009 set the record for 18 downloads in one day (nearly 3x the previous download per day record) and is closing in on being #2 in the most downloaded episode (episode #002 still is tops with 29 downloads). It's weird to think I've been at this for nearly two months now. But I'll keep putting episodes out as long as there are people listening.

hulk rage!

So, I went to play softball with some of the church folk today at Creve Coeur park. There was a massive picnic going on for some other church at the time. After the game, I return to this:

Yes that is my van which is being blocked by a car from someone from the Shalom church picnic! The dude double parked too close and didnt give me enough room to get out. So alas, fortunately Albert gave me a ride home and I just left my van at the park.

Come on! Where is the love of Jesus in double parking? Sinners repent! By the grace of God may I not slash your tires.

blasphemically yours and car-less,
